Company Backgrounder
About Trust Company of America
Established in 1972 as a custodian of investment assets, Trust Company of America’s core business is assuring a safe and secure environment for investors. Over time, we have also developed a reputation for delivering comprehensive tools and personalized services to the financial services industry and backing them with a commitment to high-touch support.
Through merger and acquisition activity involving companies such as LCS, Gemisys, and Transcorp Pension Services, Trust Company has built an extensive portfolio of software, tools, and services for financial industry professionals, including custody services, a state-of-the-art trading platform, self-directed IRA account administration, and secure information processing. Complementing our technology, we also strive to provide service and support to each of our clients at a level that our competitors generally reserve for their largest clients.
Our solutions span the financial spectrum, from deposit and trade processing to quarterly statement generation. Our expertise ranges from the large and transparent stock, bond, exchange traded funds, and mutual fund markets to the non-traditional areas of real property, limited partnerships, non-traded real estate investment trusts, and other direct participation programs.
While Trust Company has developed a host of services and programs over the past 35 years that have enhanced our original business, we have never strayed from our ultimate goal: protecting our clients’ assets.
Privately-owned, Trust Company of America is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado.
Institutional Advisor Services
Trust Company of America’s Institutional Advisor Services is an independent provider of custody, trading, and back office services to fee-only registered investment advisors. Offering unique benefits such as a state-of-the-art trading platform that employs modeled portfolios, specialized support for advisors who sell through representatives, and a flexible, complete fee management program, we deliver scalable technology and tools that help advisors effectively grow their business. As a truly independent service provider, Trust Company does not compete with its advisor clients by offering investment advice or its own investment products.
An integral part of our Institutional Advisor Services is TCAdvisor® II portfolio management and trading platform. Featuring sophisticated modeled portfolio trading, which allows for unparalleled flexibility in each client account, TCAdvisor helps advisors quickly build comprehensive investment strategies while optimizing trading activities over thousands of accounts. It also offers client data analysis and performance reporting when Trust Company is providing custody of the assets.
Ultimately, the TCAdvisor web-based platform allows advisors to invest, trade, rebalance, and reconcile individual accounts, groups of accounts, or entire books of business strategically and instantaneously, which frees time to manage client relationships, gather new assets, and optimize trading strategies.
Self-Directed IRA Administration
As a full-service custodian, Trust Company provides complete administration services for self-directed individual retirement accounts such as Traditional, Beneficiary, Rollover, Roth, SEP, and SIMPLE IRAs. Our offerings include custody of traditional assets such as stocks, bonds, exchange traded funds, and mutual funds, as well as non-traditional asset types such as limited partnerships, limited liability companies, direct participation programs, real property, and deeds of trust for mortgages. Leveraging years of expertise, we ensure the safekeeping of the most thoroughly diversified IRA portfolios.
Secure Information Processing
Trust Company’s comprehensive and innovative information processing and distribution services are customized to meet each client’s specific needs. Whether the solution includes systematic payments to individuals or businesses, printing and mailing invoices, or generating and distributing statements, our back office processing solutions ease the administrative burden for clients large and small.
Secure and Accountable
An independent custodian, Trust Company of America’s primary responsibility is ensuring the safekeeping of investment assets. From stocks and bonds to mutual funds and exchange traded funds, we are responsible for securely holding the securities, along with cash deposits and their equivalents. While Trust Company has also developed a host of value-add services and programs to enhance the investment advisor’s business, our reputation has been built upon this foundation of safety and stability.
Trust Company is headquartered just south of Denver, Colorado, in a secure 60,000 square foot facility which features monitored 24-hour surveillance cameras and card-key access. Our data center and administrative centers are also connected to emergency generators, which provide backup power in the event of a power outage. In addition, an active business recovery plan, including data mirroring, daily data backup procedures, routine off-site storage backups, and regular checks of our recovery site, helps ensure uninterrupted service and data security.
As a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured depository, Trust Company complies with federal statutes and regulations. Trust Company is also supervised and examined by the Colorado Division of Banking and is bound by Colorado State Banking Commission regulations. These require that we segregate a substantial amount of capital, based on the total value of the assets held in custody, and mandate that we invest Trust Company assets only in conservative investments permitted by statute.
Trust Company investment policies state that un-invested deposits must be placed in money market accounts backed by investment grade debt instruments including corporate and municipal bonds, obligations of the U.S. government and its agencies, mortgage-backed securities, and collateralized mortgage obligations.
