MultiValue Developer

Reports to: Manager of Software Development

Summary of Duties

The MultiValue Developer assists in the development and implementation of an IBM UniVerse MultiValue database system for the data repository and provides responsive outsourcing solutions to Investment Advisors.

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes and troubleshoots MultiValue database Development using a MultiValue/BASIC language
  • Works integrally with the Senior MultiValue Developer to design and implement technical solutions
  • Tests programs for integration prior to production
  • Documents resolutions to system problems

Skills Required

Must have excellent English skills for verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical personnel.  Must be able to design basic Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.

Knowledge Required

A college degree diploma or the equivalent with 2-3 years’ specialized computer training is required; college classes in a computer related field and 1 year’s programming experience preferred.  Must possess a functional knowledge of relational database principles and the use of database query language. Experience with and knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) is preferred.  Financial services experience is preferred.  Knowledge of Java is preferred.

Abilities Required

This position requires fundamental analytical skills involving complex information.  Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with more senior developers on designs.  Must be self-motivated to actively push forth learning using multiple tactics.  Must possess the ability to work in multiple system environments, including Unix, Linux, and Microsoft Windows.  Must possess or have the ability to gain a functional knowledge of distributed computing environments, including LAN and Internet.
