Compliance Specialist

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in monitoring, documenting, and reporting of the firm’s compliance program.
  • Assist with internal and regulatory compliance examinations, including gathering information, documenting issues, implementing corrective programs, and tracking resolution.
  • Assist in research and resolution of legal inquiries and issues.
  • Recommend and implement process and control improvements.
    Participate in cross department projects to implement new, or improve existing, practices and procedures.
  • Provide assistance on operations and client issues.
  • Implement existing compliance program including periodic reviews, incident resolution, file maintenance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Provide assistance in resolving client issues involving custody, distributions, retirement accounts, privacy, BSA/AML, and illiquid assets.
    Work on interdepartmental projects identifying and resolving potential regulatory concerns.
  • Provide reports to management tracking progress of existing programs and resolution of corrective programs.

Skills Required:

 Must have working knowledge of the concepts, practices and procedures of securities industry and/or banking. Experience in adherence with rules, regulations, and examinations of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC); Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA); Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC); Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC); and/or state banking regulatory agencies is required. Paralegal experience is preferred. Must understand financial markets and products.

Knowledge Required:

A four year college degree in business or finance or equivalent related experience is required along with 6-10 years of compliance experience. Must understand regulatory requirements and their application to retirement accounts including ERISA.

Ablity Required:

Must be able to maintain confidentiality and work with multiple levels of the organization. Must have strong organization, time management, and problem solving skills. Must have demonstrated strong written and verbal skills and be able to solve problems collaboratively.
