Frank Maiorano
President and Chief Executive Officer
Frank Maiorano was named president and chief executive officer of Trust Company of America in January 2010. As one of the pioneers of the Registered Investment Advisor services industry, Mr. Maiorano has more than 20 years of leadership experience in advancing services for RIAs.
Previously, Mr. Maiorano founded and built the RIA and Institutional Consulting Services Group at Nuveen Investments, serving as the group’s managing director. Prior to Nuveen, Mr. Maiorano spent 12 years with Charles Schwab, where he held a variety of positions including divisional vice president at Schwab Institutional. At Schwab, he was one of the early entrepreneurial employees in the RIA support services, custody, and technology division. Mr. Maiorano began his career in financial services as an investment advisor for Legg Mason.
Mr. Maiorano received a bachelor’s degree in business from East Carolina University. He currently serves on the board for the Association of Colorado Trust Companies. In addition, Mr. Maiorano founded the Habitat for Humanity’s “Financial Matters” Annual Build, which brings the financial services industry together to build one house each year for a qualified but less fortunate family.
David Runberg
Chief Financial Officer
David Runberg joined Trust Company of America in 2007 and currently serves as the firm’s chief financial officer.
With over 29 years of progressive experience as a financial executive, Mr. Runberg brings solid leadership in finance and accounting operations to Trust. His skill set encompasses 11 years of “Big 4″ public accounting practice and 19 years of diverse financial and operational experience with both public and private companies. His areas of expertise also include mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, and corporate finance.
Prior to joining Trust, Mr. Runberg served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Big O Tires, Inc. where he led the finance, credit, and information technology teams. In this role, Mr. Runberg managed a staff of 40 employees who served Big O Tires and its affiliates, as well as 550 franchised retail tire and automotive service centers located throughout the United States. Additionally, he directed numerous business valuation and franchisee financing projects.
Prior to joining Big O Tires, Mr. Runberg held senior level finance officer positions at INVESCO Private Capital and Gillett Holdings.
Mr. Runberg holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Colorado, is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, and holds the FINRA Series 27 license. In 2010, Mr. Runberg was named the Denver Business Journal CFO of the Year for small private companies.
Dennis Noto
Chief Information Officer
Dennis Noto joined Trust Company of America in 2010 and currently serves as the firm’s chief information officer.
With more than 22 years of experience in information technology leadership, Mr. Noto specializes in shaping corporate initiatives that address business opportunities and drive company-wide benefits through the implementation of high-performing information systems.
Before joining Trust, Mr. Noto served as chief information officer at Computer Research, Inc., where he was directly responsible for application architecture and software design that powers back office processing for scottrade.com. In this role, Mr. Noto managed various functions including application development, software configuration, data center operations, project management, network management/administration, and mainframe/open systems management/administration.
Prior to joining Computer Research, Inc, Mr. Noto held a number of senior level Information Technology positions at ADP Corporate and ADP/Securities Industry Software Corporation. At ADP, he was responsible for building trading systems that processed 1 million trades per hour, increased system uptime to 100 percent, and closed major sales leads through its functionality.
Mr. Noto holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Oklahoma.
Greg Jones
Chief Compliance Officer
Greg Jones joined Trust Company of America in 2005 and currently serves as chief compliance officer.
Mr. Jones has over 13 years experience in the financial services industry. His areas of expertise include regulatory analysis, risk management, and compliance procedure design. He has a strong background designing the procedures and tools needed to meet evolving business and regulatory requirements.
Before joining Trust, he served as chief compliance officer at HybridTrading, LLC. Prior to this, he held a number of positions during his 10 years of service at Charles Schwab. His responsibilities have included anti-money laundering, overseeing regulatory audits, communication with the public, and the design, implementation, and testing of adherence to regulatory procedures.
Mr. Jones earned a master’s degree in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines, and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Arizona State University. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, 9, 10, 24, 27 and 53 licenses.
Mark Massa
Senior Vice President, Client Services & Operations
Mark Massa joined Trust Company of America in 2006 and currently serves as the company’s senior vice president of client services and operations.
An executive with extensive general management, customer service, and outsourcing solution experience, Mr. Massa is a proven strategic leader who employs disciplined methods to consistently exceed customer expectations.
Over the previous 21 years, Mr. Massa has held a variety of senior leadership positions within the Fiserv Trust Group. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of product operations where he led the combined operations of Fiserv ISS (f.k.a. First Trust, Resources Trust, Lincoln Trust, The Affinity Group, Retirement Accounts, Inc., and Aspen Investment Alliance). Prior to this, he served as president of The Affinity Group, Inc. for 13 years and reported directly to the president of Fiserv Trust Group. While holding this position, he was responsible for P&L and the overall performance of the retirement plan services and outsourcing unit that served over 200,000 customer relationships.
Mr. Massa holds a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Vermont. He also participated in Fiserv’s Business Unit General Management Business School and has been a member of the American Society for Quality for over fifteen years.
Jennifer Nealson
Chief Marketing Officer
Jennifer Nealson joined Trust Company of America in 2010 and currently serves as chief marketing officer.
As an executive with history of increasing companies’ top-line revenues, Jennifer designs and executes innovative sales, marketing, and communications strategies that drive company growth. She is skilled at creating momentum internally and externally and is driven by a passion for building teams and inspiring people.
Previously, Ms. Nealson served as Vice President of Marketing & Communications with for Republic Financial Corporation, an international private investment firm. In that role, she was responsible for an internal marketing agency and sales effectiveness group that provided services to the company’s five divisions and a portfolio of 20 companies. Prior to that, Ms. Nealson was vice president at Centrix Financial, a financial services firm, where she developed and led the functions of marketing and communications, organizational development, and the corporate university. During her tenure, the firm’s assets under management grew from $2 million to $4 billion and its geographical reach expanded from three to 50 states, while the employee base grew from 30 to 2,000. Over the course of her career, Ms. Nealson has worked with Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, Coors, Sylvan Learning, Omni Hotel Corporation, and Chase Bank, focusing on corporate growth strategies in areas of organizational development, sales, and marketing.
Ms. Nealson currently serves on the Board of Directors for Bye Energy, a renewable energy company. She received her bachelor of science degree in organizational communications from University of Nebraska and has certificates in finance and performance improvement.
Al Leary
Vice President, National Sales
Al Leary joined Trust Company of America in May 2008 and currently serves as vice president of sales for the Institutional Advisor Services division.
With over 21 years of progressive experience as a sales and business development executive, Mr. Leary has an impressive background in value-add selling of technology products and systems, as well as P&L management, marketing, operations, and client services experience.
Prior to Trust, Mr. Leary held the position of senior vice president of sales and operations at TransUnion Settlement Solutions, Inc. In that role, he provided strategic growth direction for the $50 million business unit including the creation of new business and revenue streams, operational synergies, and the execution of a new sales paradigm based on a disciplined consultative sales methodology. Prior to TUSSI, Mr. Leary held a number of executive positions including vice president and general manager of a services division of IKON Office Solutions and director of sales operations for a large geographic business unit of Xerox Corporation.
Mr. Leary has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Georgetown University and a Six Sigma Green Belt certification. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association’s Corporate Resource Council.
Theresa Bain
Executive Vice President, Product Integration
Theresa Bain joined Trust Company of America in January 2002 and currently serves as executive vice president of product integration.
With more than 31 years of experience in financial services, Ms. Bain is responsible for managing Trust’s large, complex projects to ensure the timely delivery of new products and services. Before accepting her strategic role, she led operations for Trust’s institutional advisor services, asset custody services, transfer agent, and secure information processing businesses.
In addition to her role at Trust, Ms. Bain also serves as president of TCAdvisors Network, an affiliated company. TCAdvisors Network is a member FINRA/SIPC, is Trust Company’s broker/dealer of record, and operates the American Partnership Board – an online auction for direct participation programs.
Prior to joining Trust, Ms. Bain held a variety of executive positions at Fiserv Correspondent Services, Kober Financial Corporation, J.W. Gant and Associates, and SECO securities.
Ms. Bain holds the FINRA Series 7, 27, and 24 licenses.
